No Rest - Dry The River

Connection between music/lyrics and visuals Listen to the track with your eyes closed. First the music:

What are the emotions it stirs?

This song gave me more negative emotions due to the slow pace of the tune and sorrowful voice of the many artist, although it did pick up speed at various points I would still revolve this song around sad emotions types.

How do you picture the music video?

-Possibly the northern lights in the background going at their usual pace in the night sky. Whilst at the same time the main singing artist of the band is in the picture with the northern lights behind him and the only equipment on screen is a stand mic.

-However at the particular points in the song when the music picks up speed and the singer sounds more passionate, the northern lights could become faster(almost like a time-lapse) in accordance with the tempo of this music. There is a part of the song where the instruments in the background begin to be heard, and at this point there can be a jump cut to the rest of the band appearing behind the singer; in the usual band formation.

Audience

How do you consume music?
When? Do you have a daily music routine? Is some music more suitable at a certain time of day than another?
Music is a part of my daily routine especially whilst I am traveling. Music helps me to just zone out of current problems and just relax. In addition I like to listen to music whilst I am getting ready or just going around daily tasks which either accompanies my mood or is used to help lift my mood.
I believe a faster type of music is better to be listened to before an event to help get you enjoyable and excited.
Gigs, Car, School?
The main place that I wish to listen to music is when I'm moving. If its walking the dog or driving to school whilst I  As well as this, I enjoy listening to music on planes as it helps make long 32 hour journeys feel like a couple hours. I believe older songs are better to listen to in the car when you are with ur friends who you have previously and just sing ur heart out.
How? radio, computer, ipod, tv, live, dancing, homework, getting ready ie doing other things - background wallpaper
The main type of device that I would listen to my music from is through a phone/ipad/laptop and usually connect this to a speaker of some sort. Sometimes I will connect my phone to my speaker in my bedroom, in addition to this since working in the electrical department of work i have become the stores DJ and just listen to what i want all day at work.
Most of the time I do listen to my music individually, however when I listen to my music in the car it is usually shared with another person. My music isn't really an acquired taste it just has to be good.
Why? What are the pleasures associated with music consumption? What does it offer the audience and what needs does it gratify?
Normal pleasures that acquire listening to music is either joy or sadness. Sometimes I listen to music to block out anything if I am upset or in a down mood, however if I am really happy I also enjoy listening to music to accompany my mood.

3 track presentation

I really like this song and the atmosphere it creates. Although its not a very exciting tune, I think the lyrics are great and portray a much deeper message, and even this fake music video created by a fan forges a great visual representation of what the video could potentially look like. What I personally think we could do is get a variety of shots involving Harrys car, with loads of angles and transitions, because that relates to the song completely. And then those shots could be combined with colourful images and animations using the many after effects techniques.

This song is great and it suits our group very well; just from the general vibe I get from this song I can picture shots that represent sadness and bitterness. The song literally talks about falling apart, presumably in relation to a romantic issue, and from this I could play around with different effects that stipulate a morbid aurora.

From this song I portray our video to contain trippy shots and effects, because of its many base drops; when the base drops at these particular points in the song the music video can astray into complete psychedelic madness. The song is all about drugs and how a relationship is reliant upon them, the storyline that we could speculate from this would be interesting to perceive.

Star profile

For this task we were asked to find a well known star artist a present there changing image over time. This can include there dress sense, body image and style of music.

Characteristic features;
Early career - Justin Bieber started his career as a young teen boy with a very young and innocent image, this image included high pitch singing, long swept hair and a very young teen dress sense.

Following the start of his career in 2012 Justin Bieber started to change his look, with a shorter haircut pushed up hair and a more mature dress sense his typical image changed, however his music still remained high pitched and aimed at young girls.

Since 2012 Justin Bieber has dramatically changed his image, with his dress sense becoming more of a loose style and him growing his hair long and pushed back he was now beginning to have a more rebellious image with tattoos, leaked images and relationships with fellow stars.

However in recent years Justin Bieber has begun to be respected as an individual, this is because he has matured in his approach to life following his rebellious stage, this included Justin Bieber speaking gout about his rebellious stage and changing his outfit to still a loose fashion but with much more style, with this he also shaved his head and has performed as part of charity events like 'one love Manchester'. As well as this since 2012 Justin Bieber style of music has changed from being emotional and targeting young girls to being involved in many collaborations with many different genre artists like DJ Khaled and Major Laser, his music is now much more appropriate for a wider audience range.
